Board of Directors
Steven W. Jones is an independent consultant working to better integrate Baltimore City farms with public health diet-related programming to establish a viable local food system model. His focus is on identifying opportunities to link locally-grown food to national programs like the Diabetes Prevention Program which has been adopted by numerous health systems and wellness centers.
As consultant to the Mid-Atlantic Black Farmer Caucus, he was instrumental in developing the floating food hub concept, in conjunction with the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service’s Wholesale Market & Facilities Design team. It is to be a flexible facility that would aggregate, process/store and distribute locally-grown food in various locations shifting dependance from being exclusively land-based to marine- based transport. Steven feels strengthening local agriculture can improve many of our: social challenges.
He currently serves on the board of the University of Maryland’s: Harry R. Hughes Center for Agroecology, and is Future Harvest’s President Emeritus. As Coordinator of Environmental Stewardship in the Episcopal Church he is a proponent of values-based food procurement. Steven is married to Beth, has three children, and lives in Earleville, Maryland.
